Travelling to & from
Crete has two international airports, Heraklion, and Chania, both on the North coast & about a 90 minute straight forward drive to our home.
Both airports have regular flights so you should always check both airports to get the best price.
There are scheduled flights from most UK airports. EasyJet, Jet2, Ryanair, BA and most charter airlines like Thomas Cook, TUI fly to Crete also. During the winter season, you have to travel via Athens.
Good websites to look for flights are Charter Flights (searches all charter airlines), and SkyScanner (also searches budget airlines).
Onward Travel to Plakias
We recommend hiring a car as it means you can enjoy the area to it’s full potential. We use The Best Cars if hiring from the airport, and Moto Auto Plakias if you’d prefer to hire locally. Let us know which you’d prefer as we have discounts with both.
Some car hire companies can offer a driver to drive you to & from the airport in your own hire car.
We can also arrange a taxi transfers to/from their airport for you. The cost each way is 100 Euro.
Late Arrival?
The local supermarket is normally open until 11pm during high season, but if you will arriving very late we can arrange a welcome pack for you. Just tell us what you would like, e.g., bottle of wine, tea, coffee, or milk, etc.
We’ll advise you of the cost, which you can pay to our keyholder.
